Skin Penetration
A skin penetration claim is validated by demonstrating that active ingredients effectively pass through the stratum corneum to reach deeper layers such as the epidermis and dermis. This is typically assessed using in vitro techniques like Franz cell diffusion studies, which simulate the skin barrier and measure ingredient absorption. Additionally, techniques such as tape stripping can evaluate penetration depth by sequentially removing skin layers and analyzing ingredient distribution. These in vitro methods ensure that the product’s active ingredients are capable of penetrating the skin barrier and achieving the intended efficacy.

Microdialysis Probes | Measure active ingredient concentration in skin fluid | sustained release and localized delivery |
Radiolabeled Compounds | Use isotopes to track the movement of actives in skin layers. | depth of penetration and systemic absorption |
Fluorescent Dyes | Label active ingredients to visualize their penetration through skin layers using imaging techniques. | skin delivery and absorption |
Scientific Driven with our Technology:
Using our expertise in immunology and cell culture, we develop immunoassays based on ELISA principle. Using cutting edge tools like 3D tissues (some of which are OECD approved for skin / cornea irritation), we bring the human experimentation into the labs. Curating a list of research publications, we have developed a platform to test products for their biomarkers mimicking the human model to generate data to back our label claims.
